Danny Boyle's film is about a boy (Aron) that goes away (on a excursion) to the Nacional Canyonlands Park.

Ha goes alone and without telling anybody. So, nobody knows where he has gone.

while he is walking thorugh the Canyon, he falls and he gets his hand trapped under a very big rock.

So, he cannot free himself.

The title given to the film is the time he spent trapped under the rock (around the five days).

He goes through hell, he has no water, no food and he can't move.

On the fifth day he decides to cut his arm to survive. But he hasn't got any sharp tools to cut something so hard.

But finally he cuts his arm off with a blund knife wich takes him half a day to be able to do it.

You can imagine the pain he falts (and all the people in the cinema).

In the end, Aron manages to scape and meet some hikers who help him and ring an emergency number and a helicopter comes to his rescue.

Before it shows the names of the people appearing in the film, appears the real Aron without his arm (but with his family) as it was a true story.

James Franco, the actor who plays Aron, has been nominated for an Oscar to play the mein character in this film.
